Where's My Refund
The Where’s My Refund? tool is an official service provided by the IRS that allows taxpayers to track the status of their federal tax refund after filing a return.
The tool becomes available about 24 hours after an electronically filed return is accepted, three to four days after e-filing a prior-year return, or about four weeks after mailing a paper return. It shows the refund progress in three stages: Return Received, Refund Approved, and Refund Sent.
To use the tool, taxpayers need their Social Security number or ITIN, filing status, and the exact refund amount shown on their tax return. The tool can be accessed directly on the IRS website or through the IRS2Go mobile app.
